Origin, development, and interpretation of selected German Christmas carols

The presented bachelor's thesis thoroughly explores Christmas and German Christmas carols, providing a comprehensive view of these Christmas themes. The text examines not only the historical and religious context of Christmas but also focuses on its evolution from a pagan holiday to a Christian celebration. It thoroughly describes the customs, traditions, and symbols associated with Christmas, emphasising their historical origins and gradual development. Another important aspect of this work is the analysis of the origins and evolution of Christmas songs, carols, which have become an integral part of Christmas celebrations. The text seeks to understand the factors and events that influenced the development of these carols, particularly in Germany from the 16th to the 19th century. In the practical part of the work, selected German carols are analysed in more detail, including their history, cultural context, and significance. Among the examined carols highlighted in the text are well-known songs such as "Als Jesus Christ geboren ward", "Vom Himmel hoch, o Englein kommt", "Ich steh' an deiner Krippe hier", "Es kam die gnadenvolle Nacht", "O Tannenbaum", "Stille Nacht", and "Kommet, ihr Hirten". Christian Holidays and their meaning in education

The bachelor's thesis "Perception of the meaning of Christian holidays and traditions through the eyes of elementary school students" deals with the topic of celebrating Christian holidays and traditions. The work deals with the significance of holidays as such for culture and society. Thesis mainly focused on the Christmas holidays, which were the subject of my research. I set out two research questions for my bachelor's thesis. Are customs and traditions maintained in families these days? Does the perception of traditions and customs change with the age of the child? The research problem was solved with primary school students in Záhoří. The research was conducted on the basis of anonymous questionnaires. From the analysis of the questionnaires, children's awareness of traditions related to the Christmas holidays and observance of rituals and customs in families was mapped.

Importance of the celebration of Christian holidays in a secularized society

The study deals with the meaning of celebrating Christian holidays in a secularized society. The theoretical part characterizes the celebrating of feasts in human life in general. Further, it describes the liturgical year, with paying closer attention to two main Christian feasts: Christmas and Easter. First, the liturgical celebrations are described, and then the study focuses on celebrating these feasts from the point of view of folk traditions. The other half of theoretical part focuses on the secularization, its historic causes and changes in the form of celebrating holidays in today's secularized society. The practical part describes the qualitative research carried out in the form of interviews. The purpose was to investigate what the meaning of celebrating Christian holidays is there for people who are not practicing Christians. This survey has contributed to the better understanding of the meaning and manner of celebrating Christian feasts in secular families in today's society.

Christmas program offer of selected Czech full-format television stations in the years 2016-2020

The Bachelor's thesis offers answers to questions about Christmas television broadcasting of full-format stations in the period from 23rd to 26th December in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes the history and present of Christmas celebrations in the territory of the Czech Republic. It shows the differences which have arisen over time, between how Christmas was celebrated before and which of our traditions persist till today. Furthermore, the work offers basic information about rituals, production of the program scheme and broadcasting in general. The theoretical part also includes short subchapters on the history of television broadcasting in our territory and the regulation of television broadcasting. In addition to hypotheses and researched questions, the analytical part also comes with the characteristics of the researched sample, specifically with a short history of individual full-format stations. The analysis provides a description of individual television programs on all of the above-mentioned days, which usually took place from 6 am to 10 pm. For comparison, there are included in the analysis both commercial (Prima, Nova) and public (ČT1, ČT2) program offer. The thesis focuses on the concept and realization of Advent and Christmas traditions and customs. The theoretical part is based on religious and ethnographic texts and focuses on the existence of Christmas traditions and customs in our country from the 19th century up till now. The practical part examines the role of today's kindergarten teacher as a distributor of traditions and customs. It shows teacher's and pupils' work during the period of Advent and Christmas, the teaching materials and to what extent teachers are aware of the meaning and the origin of these customs and traditions.

Christmas dramas for children and teenagers in ČCE

The purpose of my diploma thesis Christmas dramas for children and teenagers in ČCE is to find out if authors of Christmas dramas in ČCE work with them as valid parts of catechetical work with children and teenagers. I decided to make analysis of some texts of Christmas theater plays, which are freely distributed in the church. First chapter tries to analyze how children relate to the work on a drama and what are the benefits of this work. Second chapter deals with theory of writing dramas for children and teenagers. Chapter three deals with analysis of two biblical texts Matt 1:18-2:23 and Luke 1:5-2:40 because they are often used as a source for Christmas dramas. Chapter four deals with analysis of three Christmas plays written by members of ČCE for congregations of ČCE. The emphasis is mainly on theological and pedagogical analysis. The conclusion of my analysis is that authors of Christmas dramas in ČCE do not work with them as valid parts of catechetical work. Czech, Russian and British Vocabulary Regarding Holidays and Traditions in Comparison

The aim of this thesis is to compare and contrast the most signifiant Christian Festivals celebrated in the Czech Republic, the Russian Federation and in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The theoretical part of the thesis analyses the customs, traditions and practices involved in the celebrations of Easter and Christmas in the three areas concerned. The thesis explains the importance of the religious content involved and compares and contrasts the similarities and differences in the ways the festivals are celebrated in the three areas. Special emphasis is given to the vocabulary used and how this vocabulary can be used to support the teaching of the English and Russian language.

Observance of Traditions and Customs in Bohemia and in Moravia

The dissertation Observance of traditions and customs in Bohemia and in Moravia focuses on issues of Czech and Moravian traditions, customs and holidays, namely on two important holidays Easter and Christmas. These two holidays are the most significant events of ecclesiastical year but they are favourite as well among inhabitants of the Czech Republic, in particular Christmas. Various customs and traditions are handed down from generation to generation and they occupy a significant position in people's lives. In the introduction the terms that are important for this work are explained as well as the significance of traditions and customs for culture, current situation of culture is mentioned as well. This work presents description of the two mentioned holidays in the context of Czech culture. In the second part of this work you can find comparison of selected elements with regard to particular Czech and Moravian customs. Apart from presenting of presented Easter and Christmas customs and their comparison, the work aims to define tendencies which occured and name these tendencies. Bachelor's thesis "Television Christmas - comparison of television programme offered during the Christmas feasts in last 10 years" target the analysis of particular genres in term of frequency and length in television programme. Special attention comes in on fairy tales, serials and news. The thesis is for example interested in the fact, if the serials don't dominate above the fairy tales or what is the frequency of broadcast news in television stations. Then the thesis solves how the television structure was formed, who controlled the prime time and which fairy tale or film won audience over. For methodology of thesis was used quantitative analysis of television programmes in prime time during the Christmas feasts 1997-2006.
